Out cheesing one another!

Another week of new music releases and an interesting array of WWALT tracks contributed by our lovely Headland team who, it may seem, are trying to out cheese one another!

But first, David Guetta and Sia collaborating to create their new release ‘Titanium’ created a split in the studio today. D thought that their teaming up was a bad idea but J disagreed. Isn’t Guetta one of the most popular chart DJ’s out there at the moment? Mixed opinions aside, this uplifting dance tune got our toes a tapping!

A little more down tempo next with Gotye and his new release ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’. The Belgian- Australian artist filled the studio with mellow vibes from his second album as J sang along.

“An uplifting mix this week” T pointed out during another down tempo yet delightful new release from New York singer songwriter Gretchen Peters with ‘Hello Cruel World’. Down tempo or not, we still enjoyed this “very American” chill out tune.

A bit of “man bashing” next with super independent woman Kelly Clarkson and her new release ‘Stronger’ which N expanded on, as the full title reads ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’. We got a very strong “we don’t need men” vibe from the first American Idol Winner’s latest track.

Some of us got a little excited when Music Man N announced Pixie Lott was up next with her new song, ‘Kiss The Stars’. Watching the music video intently, we didn’t rate it that much but that didn’t put us off Pixie one bit. “One for the school discos” thought D, but still, it was an upbeat pop tune that we all liked and R loved. (Or maybe it was just Pixie’s beautiful face he loved?!)

A new entry in the chart but one of our previous WWALT contenders which has now been released; Swedish House Mafia vs Knife Party and ‘Antidote’.  This chart and dance club track is sure to get you dancing…or raving?!

Next up, WWALT this week…

Music man N heard DJ Food’s song ‘All Covered in Darkness’ on the BBC’s 6Music channel on Saturday morning. D thought it sounded very much like the episode off friends when Ross starts playing the keyboard; a random mix of strange sounds and rhythms amalgamated into one track. Pretty different it has to be said!

Another interesting track from S this week with Junior Boys and ‘You’ll Improve Me (Dem 2 Remix)’ With frequent blurts of a deep base line; J asks how does a DJ create that noise? Diverting this question to music genius S, apparently, this is called pitch bending, and there’s plenty of pitch bending going on in this track!

And finally, how could you possibly out cheese T when it comes to WWALT? With classic mature cheddar contributions such as Queen, Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and of course this week’s spectacular contribution of Joe Esposito and ‘You’re The Best’.

Well apparently you can out cheese this musical mix of churned dairy goodness with S (our second S of the group!) treating us all with Dragostea Din Tei (English) with their 2004 track, ‘OZone Numa Numa’.

Not sure what this is? Well try and imagine three Europeans stood on top of an aero plane singing to a Euro pop tune in Romanian. Ring any bells? Check out YouTube if you’re still lost http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VdT0AGrlS0  (but we wouldn’t recommend it!)

T was seriously out cheesed this week!
