Headland Media music gurus gather to listen to the new music of the week…
‘Black Treacle’ by the Arctic Monkeys is their latest single from the new album, ‘Suck it and See’. Placed in our chart and indie category, we failed to see any difference between this new song and their old stuff, but we didn’t dwell on the downer, instead we moved onto the beautiful vocals of Florence and the Machine.
Described as “Shakespeare’s sister” by T, “her amazing voice” as S thought, filled the studio as we all listened to her powerful vocals. ‘No Light No Light’ has been released from the second album ‘Ceremonials’. What a beaut of a song Florence!
A very Katie Perry esque pop song next by Jesse J with her new release ‘Domino’. A different sound for Miss J and R wondered “has she gone stateside?” Head of music N didn’t think so but we all reckon she would do well in the states with this pop vibrant track.
Next up, JLS with ‘Do You Feel What I Feel’ placed in our RnB, chart and British music category. Not sure how much all the boys enjoyed this track so we decided to move on…
Winner of the BBC’s ‘Sound of 2012’ poll was Michael Kiwanuka and we thoroughly enjoyed his new song ‘Home Again’. The talented guitarist with a similar chilled out sound to Jack Johnson was a welcoming new addition. Is this laid back acoustic style the new sound to 2012? Well if so, we all love it!
We think these here talented girls are having a week of swapping their sounds with Rihanna’s new track ‘You Da One’ sounding more like a Jesse J hit. This flamboyant pop song didn’t really push our buttons. But fear not, there is yet again a few pleasant surprises in store in what we’re all listening to this week!
A different sound to what R normally brings to the table but thoroughly enjoyable all the same with DJ Shadow and ‘Six Days (Soulwax Remix)’. The original to this was released in 2007 but we all agreed that this new remixed track sounded pretty darn good.
Another thumbs up to S this week with what he is listening to and first up, Danny Daze feat Louisahhh and ‘Your Everything’. Music man N decided it would be a perfect track for all you lovely people to listen to on our website!
And another of S’s hidden treasures with Modern Amusement and their track ‘Cold As Ice.’ Just as N was about to fast forward the three minute intro…“hold on, there’s a vocal!” T shouted. We all liked this chilled out bar vibes type tune; T even thought it was “the highlight of the week” from our WWALT category. Listen to all our WWALT tracks on our Instore Music page. Enjoy!
